CENTRAL Shopping Center enters new year with new owner
CENTRAL Shopping Center, one of the key retail destinations in Bratislava, is changing investor. At the end of 2015, CENTRAL’s owner, the real estate developer IMMOCAP (operating on the Slovak market since 1996) sold 100 percent of its shares to Allianz Real Estate for EUR 175 million: the largest real estate transaction in Slovakia that year.
CENTRAL Shopping Center opened in October 2012 with over 150 retail outlets and total leasable area of 40,000 m2. In 2014, CENTRAL became the first “green” multifunctional complex in Slovakia with a silver certificate from Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), the international certification system. The project has received international recognition as the “Best Retail Project in Central and Eastern Europe” in the Europa Retail Real Estate Awards, as well as “Development of the Year”, and IMMOCAP became the “Developer of the Year” in real estate and development competitions in Slovakia.
CENTRAL has become one of the most popular spots in Bratislava thanks to a strategic central-Bratislava location, excellent accessibility, and ideal tenant mix, including a 2,300 m2 fitness/wellness centre and 6,000 m2 green roof park.
“We built CENTRAL as a modern and sustainable 21st century shopping centre and, together with our partners at ECE, we created a place where people like to spend time. CENTRAL is a success story for us as developers, as well as for Bratislava and its citizens. I am glad that the shopping centre is now getting a strong and respectable partner – Allianz Real Estate – which guarantees its future development and prosperity,” said Peter Lukeš, IMMOCAP Chairman of the Board.
