Istropolis

Bratislava's new vibrant district

We are transforming the long-decaying Istropolis Trade Union House into a multifunctional space for people. The dominant feature of the project will be a cultural and congress centre, which together with a generous public space will form the basis of a new vibrant district. This district full of greenery will become a quality space for life, work, culture and leisure. High-quality public spaces and three new squares will enhance the experience.

Istropolis

The new downtown

The renowned Dutch studio KCAP in collaboration with the German studio Cityförster based their design on the genius loci of the site and aimed to regenerate the entire area. Thanks to the excellent transport accessibility and the strategic location of Trnavské Mýto, the project has the potential to become an important new downtown.

Istropolis architects

“The tender was challenging because of the competition of many studios, but also because of the nature of the site and its limitations. Our goal is to make cities better places to live. For the Trnavské Mýto area, this means creating a district that combines cultural and social life, quality public spaces for markets and cafés, a pleasant environment that brings a piece of nature and good connections with other parts of Bratislava. All in a balance that is sustainable for the environment and promotes a healthy lifestyle.”
